Food Lion customers can rest assured that we require the humane treatment of animals in conjunction with the products
we sell, providing a safer, healthier eating experience. We demand our meat and poultry suppliers adhere to the animal
welfare standards such as those of the Food Marketing Institute, the guidelines set forth by the American Meat Institute
Foundation, a nonprofit research, education and information group whose standards have been approved by academic and industry
experts, or The United Egg Producers Certification Program. We check our suppliers to make sure they meet these standards and
require written confirmation of their compliance.
