Serving the Community While Being Honored
At the same time that we were honoring Food Lion, their employees participated in a volunteer project at the Raleigh warehouse from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm, sorting salvage from their own stores and packaging sweet potatoes.
During this 10-hour service project,
79 Food Lion employees:
- Sorted 22,745 pounds of salvage and
- Packaged 10,000 pounds of sweet potatoes
In total, 33,745 pounds of food product were sorted and packaged. This 10-hour volunteer project provided the equiva- lent of 28,416 meals. Each Food Lion employee sorted 427 pounds or the equivalent of 360 meals!
