Food Lion Donation/Sponsorship Guidelines

Food Lion strives to be a good neighbor and responsible corporate citizen in the communities we serve. Please note that Food Lion receives a significant number of requests and are challenged daily with difficult decisions on how best to support meaningful causes. Our giving focuses on supporting organizations and programs that

• Eliminate Hunger
• Improve healthy nutrition education

Eligibility Guidelines

The following organizations are eligible to seek funding from Food Lion Corporate Office.

• Organizations with tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
• Recognized government entities: state, county and city agencies, including law enforcement and fire departments.
• Volunteer fire departments with current tax-exempt status under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
• K-12 Public Schools / Districts, Charter Schools, Community / Junior Colleges, State Colleges and Universities.
• Private schools and colleges with current tax-exempt status under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
• Churches and other faith based organizations

Exclusions

The following are ineligible for funding:

• Individuals
• For-profit companies
• Endowment funds
• Scholarships
• Pageants or contests
• Student trips
• General operating budgets
• Programs located in communities where we do not have a corporate or store presence
• Political causes, campaigns or candidates
• Projects that send products or people for relief efforts to a foreign country
• Church and faith-based organizations to purchase real estate, supplies; or programs to benefit only the organization or its members. Examples include: youth groups, mission trips and Sunday school supplies.
• Organizations whose services are limited to its members
• Fundraisers for national organizations, i.e. American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Associations, American Heart Association, March of Dimes, Muscular Dystrophy

Food Lion Donation/Sponsorships only support programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry. We consider annual funding requests from:

• Feeding America member agencies
• United Way
