About "Food Lion … For the Children" campaign
In 2007, Food Lion stores raised and donated $3.7 million to help children served by 29 Children's Miracle Network hospitals in Food Lion's 11 state operating area. Children's Hospitals help kids of all ages and backgrounds overcome every imaginable disease and injury, from asthma and broken bones to cancer, sickle cell anemia, pediatric AIDS and other serious injuries. Our annual "Food Lion ... for the Children" campaign raises money for local Children's Miracle Network hospitals through customers' purchase of paper CMN balloons. In addition, our Food Lion associates raise money throughout the year through dress casual days as well as by sponsoring car shows, golf tournaments, bake sales and customer appreciation days. Since 1991, Food Lion, our associates and customers have raised approximately $23 million for Children's Miracle Network with 100% of the proceeds staying in our local communities.
