Roaring to Read
Food Lion’s Roaring to Read program is a structured reading incentive program designed to motivate and encourage children to read an additional 8-16 hours as a classroom project or a supplementary homework assignment. Upon completion of the program, the student receives a Certificate of Achievement and a small gift from Food Lion.
Successful reading and language arts studies give students the opportunity to interact with the selections, analyze what they read, and enjoy the experiences that great literature has to offer.
Food Lion would like for our Roaring to Read program, designed by Weekly Reader, to become a resource in helping build critical literacy skills as well as help teachers provide students with effective, focused instruction.

Student of the Month
Food Lion’s Student of the Month program recognizes outstanding school students selected by their teachers. Stores create special recognition areas featuring pictures of those celebrated students from local community schools. Each recipient receives a Certificate of Achievement and a small gift from Food Lion.
The “Student of the Month” program instills self-confidence and feelings of self-worth in each of our students and provides them with a monthly goal to work towards. | |
