Critcher Bros. Produce Inc.Critcher Bros. Produce Inc.
In 1952, Critcher Brothers Produce was started in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northwestern North Carolina by three brothers: Dwight, Carl, and Sammy. Initially, these three brothers rented most of their farm land, and on it they grew their products -- cabbage and potatoes. As well as raising the crop, the brothers also delivered the produce themselves. In on instance, because no truck was available, cabbage was hauled in the trunk of a car so that the deliver would be made.

Today, over 45 years later, Critcher Brothers Produce, owned and operated by Dwight and his son Roger, still has the same devotion to quality and service that it did when it was founded, despite the growth it has undergone. The past four and a half decades have seen quite a bit of expansion in the operation of this produce company. Critcher Brothers Produce now ships fresh produce from as far north and south as New York and Florida, and as far east and west as North Carolina and Texas. The transportation division of Critcher Brothers Produce has grown as well, now having 23 trucks and 32 trailers at the disposal of the company.

In addition to growing cabbage and potatoes year-round, Critcher Brothers Produce also sells watermelons, ornamental gourds, pumpkins, and Christmas trees.
