In Our StoresOur store management teams, beginning with our fresh department managers, are certified in the SafeMark Food Protection Manager Certification program. We also have computer based training, training aids, and standard practices that incorporate food safety into our everyday duties, to ensure that we provide you with only the best. And every store is audited a minimum of eight times a year to ensure we follow our strict food safety standards. Also, since we know an educated consumer is a safer consumer, we strive to provide you with food safety tips and up-to-date recall information.
Recall ManagementAt Food Lion, we have a thorough process to monitor and pull recalled products from our stores in a timely fashion. It begins with an electronic notification alert system that scans the newswire for product recall information. Our stores are notified of product recalls through a computer messaging and tracking system, which immediately sends a message to the store and tracks the store’s progress in responding to the recall. In addition, we immediately send a telephonic message to the store alerting them to urgent recalls. At the same time, we can place a scan block at the cash register to further ensure the product is not sold inadvertently. Finally, we will notify our MVP customers via e-mail of any urgent recall involving our private brand products.
