salad products sold under the Food Lion or Hannaford brand as well as a recall of national brand Allison’s Gourmet Kitchens potato salad
sold in bulk from the full service deli cases at Bloom, Food Lion, Reid’s and Sweetbay stores.
The potato salad products include:
- All Food Lion brand and Hannaford brand potato salad products sold at Bloom, Bottom Dollar Food, Food Lion, Reid’s and Sweetbay grocery stores.
- The products have a use-by date of March 12, 13, 14 or 15.

The company received notification from one of its private brand potato salad providers, Reser’s Fine Foods, that the product may have been produced with whole eggs that are part of a broader national recall that may be affected with affected with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall is being issued in an abundance of caution, and customers who may have purchased the recalled products are urged to return the items to their local Bloom, Bottom Dollar Food, Food Lion, Reid’s or Sweetbay stores for a full refund.
Delhaize America grocery stores Hannaford Supermarkets and Harveys are not affected by this recall.
Tyson Foods issued a recall late yesterday for ground beef, including one item carried in our Food Lion and Bottom Dollar Food stores.
The item is a 3-pound chub of Butcher's Brand ground beef, 73 percent lean – 27 percent fat. This is the only item affected, and has a
"Best Before or Freeze By" date of Sept. 12 with the establishment number “245D” printed along the package seam.
The item was shipped to Food Lion stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Virginia and West Virginia and to Bottom Dollar Food stores in North Carolina, and would have been available for sale between Aug. 27 and Sept. 12. Food safety is a top priority at Food Lion. We encourage customers to check their freezers for this product, with UPC code (725439922241) and return it to the store for a full refund.
A select number of Food Lion stores have pulled the following product from the store shelves in response to the manufacturers recall.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the affected lots could have plastic fragments in the pizza crust. Therefore,
we are conducting an immediate voluntary product recall.

A select number of Food Lion stores have pulled the following product from the store shelves due to a manufacturer’s voluntary recall. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the affected lots have the potential for bacterial contamination from Listeria monocytogenes.
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy persons may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

Food Lion does not currently sell this product, and we stopped selling it more than a year and a half ago. However, we still want to make our customers aware of this voluntary recall from Pfizer Consumer Healthcare. The UPC and Lot numbers of the recalled product are:

The problem with the product is the potential leak of components in the wrap, which could cause a second degree skin burn. Pfizer has received only 1 report to date of a 2nd degree skin burn that resulted from leaking products in a wrap from the identified lot. Approximately 15% of retained samples from the identified lot were found to have the same defect as the reported leaking products, so additional burns could occur.
Pfizer will continue to work with The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ensure that this voluntary recall is being conducted in the most effective way possible. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that during manufacturing some Banana

Formula products from the store shelves due to a manufacturer’s (Abbott laboratories) recall.
Abbott is recalling these products following an internal quality review, which detected the remote
possibility of the presence of a small common beetle in the product produced in one production area
in a single manufacturing facility. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has determined
that while the formula containing these beetles poses no immediate health risk, there is a possibility
that infants who consume formula containing the beetles or their larvae, could experience symptoms of
gastrointestinal discomfort and refusal to eat as a result of small insect parts irritating the GI tract.
If these symptoms persist for more than a few days, a physician should be consulted.

Food Lion is recalling ground beef purchased at our store located at 1800 Lafayette Road
in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., purchased on May 14 and May 15, 2010. The recall only affects
ground beef and is isolated to this store.
The recall is being issued in an abundance of caution as a result of possible cleaning residue
which may have remained on equipment. The situation has been resolved, and a new supply of
ground beef has been restocked at the store.
We do not anticipate a health risk to consumers. However, we are asking customers to return the ground beef to the store in an abundance of caution. Any customer who purchased ground beef at this location on May 14 and May 15 may return the product to the store for a full refund.

Certain products containing hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) – a flavor enhancer used in many
food products – have been recalled nationwide due to concerns about salmonella contamination.
To date, no associated illnesses have been reported. The HVP was manufactured by Basic Food Flavors
Inc. of Las Vegas, which issued a voluntary recall of all powder and paste HVP made since Sept. 17, 2009.

Voluntary recall of some over-the-counter products, including certain product lots of
Tylenol, Motrin, Benadryl, Rolaids, Simply Sleep and St. Joseph.
The recall is in response to consumer reports of an unusual moldy, musty or mildew-like odor
that, in a small number of cases, was associated with nausea, stomach pain, vomiting or
diarrhea. The recall was implemented in consultation with the U.S. Food and Drug Association.
