Orville Redenbacher's® Classic Kettle Korn Ready-to-Eat Popcorn is Recalled Due to Undeclared Milk Allergen

Certain bags of the Kettle Korn flavored ready-to-eat popcorn may have inadvertently been filled with white cheddar flavored popcorn, which contains an undeclared milk allergen.
One of the affected products is Orville Redenbacher’s Classic Kettle Korn flavored popcorn, is packaged in 5.0-ounce with a UPC # of 2700052321 with lot codes 5486234100, 5486234200, 5486234300 and Best By Dates of SEP 02 2013, SEP 03 2013 and SEP 04 2013.
The affected product has been removed from store shelves. Customers who may have purchased the affected products are urged to dispose of the items and bring the receipt to their local store for a full refund. This product should not be consumed.

Rich Products Corporation, a Buffalo, N.Y. firm, is recalling approximately 196,222 pounds of frozen chicken quesadilla and various other heat-treated, not fully-cooked frozen mini meals and snack items because they may be contaminated with E. coli
The products recalled include four frozen snack items carried by our stores: Farm Rich Mini Quesadillas, 18 oz., UPC 4132235635; Farm Rich Mini Pizza Slices, 22 oz., UPC 4132235643; Farm Rich Philly Cheese Steaks, 21 oz., UPC 4132235634; Farm Rich Mozerella Bites, 22 oz., UPC 4132237443.

Food For Life Baking Company of Corona, California has voluntarily recalled 15,369 cases of Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain Cereal shipped to various retailers nationwide between Nov. 20, 2012 and Feb. 11, 2013, including select Food Lion stores. Woodstock® issued a voluntary recall of Woodstock Tamari Roasted Almonds, because of an incorrect back label on packages of a single lot. This mislabeling incident resulted in an undeclared allergen (soy).

Freshway Foods has voluntarily recalled packaged sliced apple products sold at Food Lion stores because of potential listeria contamination. No illnesses have been reported.
The voluntary recall was issued after a single, routine and random retail sample of sliced green apple product taken by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services tested positive for the bacteria.

The affected packages are 16 fl. oz. bottles of Newman’s Own Lite Honey Mustard Dressing that have a sell-by date of 16 OCT 13 M with a time stamp from 12:47 – 13:30 and UPC code of 0 20662 00292. The sell-by date is located on the neck label of the bottle. Only the product with time codes from 12:47 to 13:30 are affected.

Frito-Lay has issued a voluntary recall of GRANDMA'S Peanut Butter Sandwich Crème Cookies because the product contains undeclared milk and eggs. Specifically, the cookies do not list the presence of possible allergens that are included in an artificial butter flavor ingredient.
The affected packages are 3.025 oz. packages of GRANDMA'S Peanut Butter Sandwich Crème cookies that have a sell-by date of March 12, 2013 or earlier, and UPC code of 28400-00153. The sell-by date is located on the front of the package.
While Frito-Lay also recalled an additional product (1.71 oz. GRANDMA'S Peanut Butter Mini Sandwich Crème cookies), Food Lion, Harveys and Reid’s stores carry only the 3.025 oz. packages of GRANDMA'S Peanut Butter Sandwich Crème cookies that have a sell-by date of March 12, 2013 or earlier, and UPC code of 28400-00153.

Nestlé has recalled some of its chocolate powder products, including an item sold at Food Lion stores, because of potential salmonella contamination of calcium carbonate, an ingredient used in NESQUIK products.
The affected product is labeled “NESQUIK CHOCOLATE 25% LESS SUGAR” and has the following lot codes of 2278574820 and 2279574810 on the bottom of the canister, which would be adjacent to a “BEST BEFORE Oct. 2014” expiration date. The product has the UPC #2800068090.

The following companies have announced recent voluntarily recalls related to an existing recall by Sunland, Inc., based in New Mexico, of nut butter and peanut butter products, because of potential salmonella contamination.
As previously announced, Chattanooga Bakery Inc. of Chattanooga, Tenn., has voluntarily recalled a peanut butter crunch product sold at Food Lion, Harveys and Reid’s stores. The affected product is the 9.6-ounce MoonPie Peanut Butter Crunch, UPC 72108-18901-7. The expanded recall includes products with the following expiration dates 10/29/12, 12/10/12, 01/07/13, and 01/29/13.
Newman's Own Organics has voluntarily recalled Newman O's Peanut Butter Cookies products sold at Food Lion stores. The affected product is the 8-ounce Newman O's Peanut Butter Cookies, UPC 7-57645-02170, with best-by dates of 27-May-13 and 26-NOV-10 or later.
Late July Snacks has voluntarily recalled Late July Mini Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers products sold at Food Lion stores. The affected product is the 5-ounce Late July Mini Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers, UPC 8-90444-00070-0, with best-by dates of 19MAY13 through 11JUL13.
All affected products were removed from store shelves immediately after the manufacturer’s recall notification. Customers who may have purchased the affected products are urged to dispose of the items and bring the receipt to their local Food Lion store for a full refund. These products should not be consumed.
Bolthouse Farms has voluntarily recalled a limited quantity of its 16-ounce carrot chips due to potential salmonella contamination. No illnesses have been reported.
Sold at Food Lion, Harveys and Reid’s stores, the affected product is labeled “Bolthouse Farms Carrot Chips” and has the following information and codes on the front right corner of the bags: UPC 71464 17209 with use-by dates of Nov. 12, 2012 (Lot Code - BF 212 J11) and Nov. 13, 2012 (Lot Code - BF 212 J12.)

Chattanooga Bakery Inc. of Chattanooga, Tenn., has voluntarily recalled a peanut butter crunch product sold at Food Lion, Harveys and Reid’s stores, related to an existing recall by Sunland Inc. of New Mexico.

Chattanooga Bakery Inc. issued the voluntary recall after learning of a national recall by peanut butter supplier Sunland Inc. related to potential salmonella contamination. While several illnesses have been reported nationally related to the Sunland Inc. recall, no illnesses have been linked to the peanut butter crunch products produced by Chattanooga Bakery Inc.
The MoonPie Peanut Butter Crunch product sold at Food Lion, Harveys and Reid’s stores is being recalled in an abundance of caution, and the affected product has been removed from store shelves. Food Lion has pulled cantaloupes from shelves at select stores in response to a voluntary recall issued by produce supplier DFI Marketing Inc. The cantaloupes were voluntarily recalled in an abundance of caution due to potential salmonella contamination. No illnesses have been reported. Food Lion has disposed of the affected product, which would have PLU no. 4050. Purchase dates would range from Sept. 5 to Sept. 13.

The packaged produce item would be labeled, “Garden Highway Mango Medley,” and would have the UPC code (8-26766-21437).
Splendid Products voluntarily recalled Daniella mangoes this week due to possible salmonella contamination. Upon notification, Bottom Dollar Food immediately disposed of the affected packaged produce item containing Daniella mangoes.

This product would have a sell-by date of Aug. 28.
A North Carolina food supplier that provides produce to select Food Lion and Reid’s stores has announced a recent recall of cantaloupes. Based on incorrect information provided by the grower, previous announcements incorrectly identified the cantaloupes as being the Athena variety. The cantaloupes affected by the recall are the Caribbean Gold variety, and would have stickers that reference Burch Farm and read: “Cantaloupe PLU 4319.”
Burch Equipment LLC, North Carolina previously announced a recall of cantaloupes because of the potential presence of listeria monocytogenes, and the company expanded its recall to include additional cantaloupes and later corrected the variety of cantaloupes involved in the recall. Food Lion and Reid’s were not a part of the initial recall notice. No confirmed illnesses have been associated with either recall, according to Burch Equipment LLC, North Carolina.

Delhaize America banners Food Lion, Bottom Dollar Food, Reid’s and Harveys have pulled AlsoSalt Butter Flavored Salt
Substitute in response to the manufacturer’s voluntary product recall.
The item is a 2.5 oz. bottle with all expirations dates being affected by the recall. The recall was initiated due to the product containing an undeclared milk allergen. People who have allergies to milk run the risk of serious or life threating allergic reactions if they consume this product. Therefore, we immediately conducted a voluntary product recall. Consumers are encouraged to return the product (UPC # 8-94180-00002) for a full refund.
The manufacturer of Food Lion store brand products announced today it has expanded its recent recall of
store brand taco dinner kits.
The latest recall includes:
- At Food Lion, Harveys and Reid's stores, the Food Lion store brand 12-count, hard taco dinner kit with UPC code 35826-00661, lot number ga-aug10125
- At Bloom stores, the 12-count hard taco dinner kit sold under the Hannaford store brand label with UPC code 41268-17572, lot number ga-aug10125; and the hard/soft dinner kit sold under the Hannaford store brand label with UPC code 41268-17573, lot number ga-aug07125
- (Previously announced) The Food Lion store brand hard/soft taco dinner kit with the UPC code 3582605118, lot number of ga-aug07125
On April 6, the company issued a voluntary recall after learning that the Food Lion-branded hard/soft taco dinner kit may have contained a milk allergen in chicken Caesar-flavored seasoning. The seasoning was not properly marked and was mistakenly included in the taco dinner kit by the manufacturer. After learning of the error, the stores immediately pulled the product from shelves. The manufacturer has since expanded the recall to include additional products with the incorrect seasoning.
The recall is being issued in an abundance of caution, and customers who may have purchased the recalled products are urged to return the items to their local Bloom, Food Lion, Harveys or Reid's store for a full refund.
Hannaford Supermarkets stores are not affected by this recall.

The company received notification from one of its private brand potato salad providers, Reser’s Fine Foods, that the product may have been produced with whole eggs that are part of a broader national recall that may be affected with affected with Listeria monocytogenes. Delhaize America grocery stores Hannaford Supermarkets and Harveys are not affected by this recall.
Tyson Foods issued a recall late yesterday for ground beef, including one item carried in our Food Lion and Bottom Dollar Food stores.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy persons may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

The problem with the product is the potential leak of components in the wrap, which could cause a second degree skin burn. Pfizer has received only 1 report to date of a 2nd degree skin burn that resulted from leaking products in a wrap from the identified lot. Approximately 15% of retained samples from the identified lot were found to have the same defect as the reported leaking products, so additional burns could occur.
Pfizer will continue to work with The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ensure that this voluntary recall is being conducted in the most effective way possible. Formula products from the store shelves due to a manufacturer’s (Abbott laboratories) recall.
Abbott is recalling these products following an internal quality review, which detected the remote
possibility of the presence of a small common beetle in the product produced in one production area
in a single manufacturing facility. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has determined
that while the formula containing these beetles poses no immediate health risk, there is a possibility
that infants who consume formula containing the beetles or their larvae, could experience symptoms of
gastrointestinal discomfort and refusal to eat as a result of small insect parts irritating the GI tract.
If these symptoms persist for more than a few days, a physician should be consulted.

Food Lion is recalling ground beef purchased at our store located at 1800 Lafayette Road
in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., purchased on May 14 and May 15, 2010. The recall only affects
ground beef and is isolated to this store.
The recall is being issued in an abundance of caution as a result of possible cleaning residue
which may have remained on equipment. The situation has been resolved, and a new supply of
ground beef has been restocked at the store.

Certain products containing hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) – a flavor enhancer used in many
food products – have been recalled nationwide due to concerns about salmonella contamination.
To date, no associated illnesses have been reported. The HVP was manufactured by Basic Food Flavors
Inc. of Las Vegas, which issued a voluntary recall of all powder and paste HVP made since Sept. 17, 2009.
