Wine Varietal of the Month - WHITE ZINFANDEL
White Zinfandel is a relative newcomer to the world of wine, not introduced until the 1980's. In order to make a white zinfandel, the winemaker peels the red skins off the red zinfandel grapes. Without those skins, the resulting wine is light in color, sweet in flavor and without the harsh / rich flavors found in red wines. This is how blush wines are made. White zinfandel is a pale-rose wine colored that's very sweet, which pairs well with fruit and cheese, salads, and light dessert; or you can just enjoy this refreshing, sweet wine by itself on a hot sunny day.
