Tantalizing Tailgate Recipes With Five Ingredients or Less

Light appetizers and basic dishes are real party pleasers when a simple spread will do for get-togethers. Quick and easy tailgate recipes present beautifully, are tasty, and are prepared with minimal effort. These easy tailgate recipes keep the prep simple so that you're not late to the party.

Buffalo Ranch Popcorn


  • 8 cups air-popped popcorn
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons FRANK's Red Hot Buffalo Wings® Sauce of choice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon Hidden Valley® Original Ranch Salad Dressing & Seasoning Mix


Pour popcorn into a large bowl and remove unpopped kernels. Mix butter and buffalo wing sauce in a small bowl. Once done, drizzle mixture over popcorn, gently tossing it to coat the kernels. Gently toss again after sprinkling kernels with ranch seasoning and salt. Serve immediately.

Cinnamon Roll Waffles


  • 1 can refrigerated Pillsbury Grands!™ cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla


Spray a waffle maker with cooking spray and heat. Set icing aside and separate dough into five rolls. For each waffle, place one cinnamon roll in center of waffle maker and close the lid. Bake 3 to 4 minutes, or until golden brown. Stir icing, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together until glaze is smooth. Serve glaze over hot waffles.

Mediterranean Five-Layer Hummus Dip


  • 1 pound hummus (family size)
  • 1 large red bell pepper
  • 1/2 English or regular peeled cucumber, diced
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, diced
  • 1/3 cup feta cheese, crumbled

Optional: 2 tablespoons flat-leaf chopped parsley or 1/4 cup kalamata olives


Spread hummus evenly on the bottom of an 8- to 9-inch round or square serving dish. Layer remaining ingredients on top of hummus. Allow everything to chill in the fridge for up to 24 hours before serving. Pair with fresh veggies, baked pita chips, or whole-grain crackers.

Wonton Mozzarella Sticks


  • 12 pieces string cheese
  • 12 large egg roll wrappers*
  • Oil for deep-fat frying**
  • Marinara or spaghetti sauce


Place a piece of string cheese near bottom corner of one egg roll wrapper. Keep remaining wrappers covered with a damp paper towel until ready to use. Fold bottom corner over cheese and roll up halfway. Fold sides toward center over cheese and moisten remaining corner with water. Roll up tightly to seal. Repeat for remaining wrappers and cheese.

In an electric skillet, heat 1/2 inch of oil to 375F. Fry sticks, a few at a time, for 30 to 60 seconds on each side, or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and serve with marinara, soy, or sweet chili sauce.

*Ensure you select egg roll wrappers and not spring roll wrappers. Egg roll wrappers are soft, while spring roll wrappers are thin, stiff, and require water to soften.

** Not a fan of deep-fried treats? Pop sticks in the oven instead.
