Monica is currently an executive chef and freelance personal chef in Gastonia, NC. She defines her style of cooking as modern southern foods with finesse and lots of love. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, then went on to complete a culinary degree at the Art Institute of Charlotte in 2012.

Lisa has been in the kitchen since she was a little girl. She grew up cooking typical southern foods at her mother’s side. Cooking has always been a passion of hers; in fact Lisa feels that being a chef was her true calling in life. Lisa is a Certified Culinarian by the American Culinary Federation and has earned an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts from Central Piedmont Community College. She and her husband, Ken, own and cook beside six other chefs at her personal chef service in Charlotte, NC.

Miss CIAA Scholarship Competition

Food Lion Feeds and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association® are proud to partner together to give faculty, staff, students and alumni a chance to vote their campus queen as Miss CIAA 2017 and also help provide $2,000 to a local food bank to feed families in the community at the same time.


Teen Summit

GIRLS and GUYS are invited to be a part of the 7th Annual Food Lion CIAA Teen Summit, Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Charlotte Convention Center. High school juniors and seniors are invited to attend. It’s REAL TALK on getting teens ready for college and career! This year’s theme: “#SocialSavvyTeens: How To Be Smart On Social Media!” Hear from a professional blogger how you can make social media WORK FOR YOU. Instead of being the ‘consumer’, learn to be a Social Media BOSS! The summit is interactive and encourages teens to have candid conversation and interaction among their peers. Plus, there’s food, live DJ, contests and prizes including the latest gadgets in technology, Food Lion gift cards and more! Event is FREE!!


CIAA Essay Competition

The CIAA Essay Competition, a partnership between Food Lion & Coca-Cola, provides $35,000 in scholarships to students from different CIAA Institutions. The four grand prize winners also win an all-expenses paid trip to the weekend of the CIAA Basketball Tournament Championship. This year's topic is "As a student at a CIAA school, how could you have a positive impact on relationships within the community?" Submissions were accepted until January 27, 2017. The winners will be notified by end of February. The 4 Grand Prize Winners will be announced at the Men's Championship game, Saturday, February 25th, at halftime.

Career Fair

The CIAA Conference will host a Career Fair on Thursday, February 23rd from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Charlotte Convention Center. Food Lion will be present and accepting resumes from all interested CIAA students for the range of early talent programs we offer – Retail Management Trainees, International Graduate Trainees, and our Summer Internship program.
