Kiana Rushdan is currently a senior at Winston-Salem State University. She stands on the platform “Her voice, Her way” encouraging women to love themselves unconditionally, use their voice in a effective manner, and to maximize their inner beauty. Kiana is the recipient of WSSU’s prestigious full ride Chancellor Scholarship. She is also a National Institute of General and Medical Sciences (NIGMS) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored MARC Scholarship recipient. In addition to serving in her demanding role as Miss Winston-Salem State University, 2016-2017, Kiana is fully engaged in the life of her university. She is currently involved in the The Honors Program, Black Women for Change, Tri Beta Biological Honors Society, The Student Conduct Council, SGA, and the Campus Activities Board.
This past summer Kiana’s inquisitive and adventurous spirit lead her to an internship sponsored by NASA and the National Science Foundation visiting the jungles of Malaysia, where she did research on ecology. She loves to cook, travel, and give back to her community. After graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology, Kiana plans to obtain her Masters in Biomedical Engineering , enlist in the United States Airforce, and become an Emergency Medicine Physician.
