Briona May hails from Hampton, Virginia. She is currently studying at Shaw University where she is obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. Her platform as Miss Shaw University is to 
"Train, Educate and Eliminate issues associated with sexual assault and domestic violence". In doing so, she has taken on the role as President of Peer Educators and the student representative on the CCRT Team which both compromise of individuals striving to address the need for programs, enrichment and viability to better educate the community. She has served in many capacities whether communally, politically, or socially and has done work spanning from lobbying in North Carolina (NC) and on Capitol Hill, canvassing, organizing, phone banking, to working at the NC Legislative building under Senator, Terry Van Duyn. She was also a fellow for Common Cause NC and was appointed this year as the College Democrats of North Carolina HBCU Outreach Director. Briona also serves as the Student Athletic Advisory Committee President; she is a member of the Track and Cross Country teams and is the Bowling team captain. After graduation she aspires to attend law school and is keen with the ambition to become the Attorney General of the United States of America.
