These berries make an impressive presentation, yet they are incredibly simple to prepare. Chocolate melts quickly and easily in a microwave. But be sure to follow the instructions to avoid scorching. Overcooked chocolate can become grainy.

Select ingredients:

  1. Wash the berries in cool water and dry thoroughly. Line a baking sheet with baking parchment or wax paper.
  2. Put the chocolate chunks into a microwave-proof container, such as a large measuring cup. Microwave on LOW (50%) power setting for 30-second intervals, stirring each time and rotating the container if necessary. (The time required varies depending on the microwave, container, and type of chocolate. Heating is done when most but not all of the chocolate is melted. After removing from the microwave, stir until the chocolate is smooth, glossy, and completely melted.)
  3. Dip the berries into the warm chocolate. Working over the container, use a small rubber spatula or spoon to smooth out the chocolate. As the berries are completed, place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. When all the berries have been dipped, refrigerate the sheet for 10 minutes or until the chocolate is set. Transfer the berries, in a single layer, to a covered container and refrigerate. Serve later the same day.
