Sloppy Joe sandwiches are a comfort food staple. And these sliders are a smaller version of that beloved dish with a homemade sauce, cheddar cheese and soft Hawaiian rolls. Although these sliders make amazing lunch sandwiches, they are also perfect for Game Day since they’re appetizer-sized, allowing you and your family to munch on some other snacks as well while watching the game.
Ingredients
Recipe Tip: For spicy Sloppy Joes, use Pepper Jack cheese and add a few dashes of hot sauce to the Sloppy Joe mixture.
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 13x9” glass baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil, onion, garlic, salt and pepper. Cook until fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Add ground beef, breaking up with a spoon and stirring constantly until no pink remains. Add Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, cumin and chili powder and stir until just combined.
- Cut slider buns in half and place bottom halves in baking dish. Spoon over Sloppy Joe mixture and top with shredded cheese. Top with bun tops, brush with melted butter, and bake 10 minutes, until cheese is fully melted.
