Scoop your favorite snacks into this creamy cheese ball, made with French Onion dip, a blend of cheeses, carmelized onions and topped with black olives to add a festive flare for March Madness.
Ingredients
Directions
-
To caramelize onions, slice 2 onions and cook in a large skillet on medium heat with 2 tablespoons olive oil and 2 tablespoons butter. Stir with a wooden spoon occasionally. Once the onions start to become translucent, turn the heat down to low and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir in about 1 tablespoon honey and cook for about 10-15 minutes or until they are caramelized and lightly browned in color. Remove from the heat and let cool.
-
In a large bowl using an electric hand mixer, cream together cream cheese, goat cheese, onions, French Onion dip, garlic powder, and onion powder.
-
Spoon the dip onto a parchment lined half sheet pan and shape into a ball shape. Use the back of the spoon to shape it and smooth it into a basketball.
-
Press in the shredded cheese all over the cheese ball. Cover with plastic wrap and place into the refrigerator for at least 3 hours to firm up.
-
Decorate with chopped olives to look like a basketball. Serve with a variety of crackers. Keep in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
