Super moist banana bread topped with a sweet, brown butter icing.
- For the banana bread: Heat oven to 375. Grease a 13x9 inch pan. In a large bowl beat together sugar, sour cream, 1/2 cup softened butter, and eggs until creamy. Blend in bananas and 2 tsp. vanilla extract. Add flour, baking soda, and salt and blend for 1 minute. Stir in walnuts. Spread batter evenly into pan and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly and frost with icing.
- For the brown butter icing: Heat 1/2 cup butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Watch carefully for when it reaches a medium brown color, stirring often. Turn off the heat, whisk in powdered sugar a little at a time, adding milk as it thickens. Then add in 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Pour over warm banana bread immediately and smooth with a spatula. Cool completely before cutting.
