Turn the oven off and take a different route to cook your bird for Thanksgiving. Deep fried turkey adds a flavor and moistness that you can't get in traditional baked turkey!
- In a large fryer, bring oil to 350 degrees.
- Rub the completely dried and thawed turkey with the salt and pepper and place neck-side down in the fryer basket.
- Place the basket in the fryer and cook for about 30-35 minutes.
- After 30-35 minutes, pull the turkey out and take temperature of turkey. If it hits 180 degrees, it is done. If not, place back in fryer until it hits that temperature. Allow excess oil to drain off the turkey before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
