This Sugar Cookie Recipe yields old fashioned style crispy cookies just like Grandma used to make! Keep a batch on hand for when that sweet tooth calls.
Ingredients
Directions
- Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Use a stand mixer or hand mixer to cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Mix in egg, then vanilla. Fully mix in both ingredients, about one minute.
- Add dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Pour the additional 1/4 cup granulated sugar into a separate bowl.
- Form dough balls that are equal to about one tablespoon. Roll the dough balls in the bowl of sugar to coat them entirely.
- Place the sugar-coated dough balls two inches apart onto a greased baking sheet, or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes, until just barely golden around the edges.
- Remove cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet about five minutes. Transfer the cookies to a baking rack to finish cooling, and enjoy!
- Store these cookies in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze the dough balls for up to three months!
