These adorable kiwi pops are a healthy alternative to all that Halloween candy. And with a bit of dark chocolate and silly faces, they’re just as fun to eat. Serve them at your holiday bash or let the kids help for a fun afternoon activity and healthy treat.
Ingredients
Directions
- First, Slice the kiwi into ½-inch to ¾-inch rounds, about three slices per kiwi. Insert a thin paring knife into one end of each kiwi and push it about halfway up. Slide a popsicle stick into the opening and set the kiwi slices with sticks on a parchment-lined tray or cookie sheet.
- Next, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and cocoa butter or shortening in a microwave safe container. Heat in 30-secon bursts, stirring in between, to prevent the chocolate from burning. Transfer the melted chocolate to a piping bag with a fine tip or a plastic zip-top bag and cut off a tiny piece of the corner.
- Carefully pipe bandages, stiches, nuts and bolts, and mouths onto each slice. For the eyes, place white chocolate chips upside down and press into the kiwi slices, then add a dot of chocolate for pupils.
- Allow the chocolate to set and serve right away or refrigerate and serve cold.
