If you love the taste french onion soup, you will love it on top of a hot dog.
- In a medium pan, over medium to low, melt the butter and olive oil. Once bubbling, add the onion slices. Stir occasionally with a spoon. Drizzle with honey and season with salt and black pepper. Cook the onions until they are slightly browned, about 10-12 minutes. Add the apple cider and let thicken slightly, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside.
- Cook the hot dogs on the grill, on medium heat. Turning occasionally, so they do not burn. Cook until thoroughly warmed. Place the hot dogs into buns. Warm the buns on the grill if desired. Spoon over prepared onions. Sprinkle with a little cheese. Place back on the grill to melt the cheese or under the broiler for about 4 minutes. Until the cheese is melted and slightly browned.
