Growing up, my father’s French toast was a family favorite. When I got married, my husband and I modified it slightly, adding nutmeg and ice cream. It’s so delicious that ordering French toast out is a disappointment. It’s hard to part with family recipes, but what comforts me is knowing that the world now has an opportunity to have their tastebuds delighted at breakfast. Enjoy with syrup, apple sauce or fresh berries.

Select ingredients:

  1. Take out blender. Add eggs, ice cream, milk, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla directly into blender.
  2. Blend ingredients for 1 minute on “blend.”
  3. Pour batter into bowl. Let egg batter sit for a few minutes so foam settles.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter on griddle (or in pan) on high, and then lower heat to medium.
  5. Thoroughly dip bread into batter and place on griddle. Scrape excess batter from edges of bread. Cook approximately 1-2 minutes on each side, or until browned, and remove from heat. Add additional butter onto griddle as needed.
