Burgers or pizza for dinner? With this Grilled Pizza Burger recipe, you don’t have to choose! Burgers with Italian flavors, topped with mozzarella cheese, pepperoni and tomato sauce, this entrée is cheesy and zesty and pairs well with herb-roasted potatoes and grilled veggies. So, the next time you’re planning to spend some time outdoors and get the grill out, try this creative spin on the traditional cheeseburger. You can even add your family’s favorite pizza toppings, like mushrooms, onion, fresh basil and so on.
- Preheat grill on high with the lid closed for 10-15 minutes. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, mix ground beef, salt, egg, bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese by hand until just combined. Separate into 4 equally sized patties, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Open the lid and reduce the grill temperature to medium. Place patties on the grill and close the lid for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, microwave the tomato sauce, covered with food wrap or a paper towel in a microwave-safe bowl, for 30 seconds.
- Flip patties and top with mozzarella cheese. Cook for another 3 to 5 minutes, depending on desired meat temperature. While waiting, place the burger buns cut-side-down on grill and lightly toast. Remove the meat from grill.
- Spread warm tomato sauce on the burger buns and top patties with 4 pepperoni slices each. Serve immediately.
