Say €œadios€ to guacamole in plastic tubs. Here's the real thing, which takes only minutes to prepare. Be sure the avocado is very ripe, yielding to gentle pressure. For mixing, use a fork, leaving the guacamole with an appealing, slightly lumpy texture. Serve guacamole as a chip dip, a sandwich spread, or as a delicious filling for omelets topped with taco sauce and a dollop of sour cream.

  1. Use a fork to mash the avocado in a small bowl. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
  2. To keep at room temperature for up to 1 hour, cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface. To keep for up to 3 hours, cover and refrigerate.
