Say adios to guacamole in plastic tubs. Here's the real thing, which takes only minutes to prepare. Be sure the avocado is very ripe, yielding to gentle pressure. For mixing, use a fork, leaving the guacamole with an appealing, slightly lumpy texture. Serve guacamole as a chip dip, a sandwich spread, or as a delicious filling for omelets topped with taco sauce and a dollop of sour cream.
- Use a fork to mash the avocado in a small bowl. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
- To keep at room temperature for up to 1 hour, cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface. To keep for up to 3 hours, cover and refrigerate.
