- Wash squash, cut ends off and slice. Cover with water and stew until tender, about 25 min.
- Drain water from squash and mix in butter and cream cheese until well blended.
- Beat egg and add to squash mixture. Pour in cheese, basil and salt and pepper, mixing well.
- Pour into a greased 9X12 pan or baking dish. Cover top with french fried onions.
