Masala Chai Tea Latte

This spicy beverage from India is the perfect way to celebrate the season with friends and family or simply warm up on a cold winter’s night. A little more effort is involved than for your typical cup of tea, but fragrant aroma and tingly taste are well worth it.

  1. Add ginger and all spices to a medium to large pot and turn stove to medium-high heat. Stir the spices for a few minutes just until slightly toasted. Add water and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and add tea bags and steep for another five minutes (less for loose leaf tea). Finally, add milk and sweetener and bring to a simmer once more to reheat.
  3. Pour the contents through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher or thermos and serve hot, adding more sweetener to taste if desired.
