The most savory dish on any Super Bowl menu is likely to include sausage. This dish is very filling but surprisingly isn’t as heavy as cheese dip and crackers because the fresh salsa you make in your own kitchen lightens it up. This is a salty treat, so keep plenty of water and ginger ale on hand to quench thirsty Super Bowl party guests.

  1. Make the salsa fresco. In a large bowl mix tomatoes, onion, cilantro, jalapeno, lime zest and juice, and salt. Set aside so ingredients can marinate.
  2. Cook sausage in a hot pan until browned. Drain the grease and break sausage into crumbles and set aside.
  3. In a sauce pan over medium heat, heat milk. Stir in cheese until melted and continue to stir, adding fresh salsa including juices. Mix well.
  4. Add sausage crumbles and hot sauce. Mix everything together until combination is hot. Pour into serving bowl and arrange chips around it. Garnish with green onion. Serve immediately.
