Sprinkle some patriotic flavor on your favorite ice cream and sandwich it between two warm, rich chocolate brownies for a delectable dessert everyone can enjoy.
- Use a sharp knife to cut up the chocolate into small pieces. In a glass measuring cup add the stick of butter and the chocolate pieces. Microwave on high for 30 seconds at a time until melted. Stir with a spoon and let cool to room temperature.
- Whisk together sugar, eggs and vanilla extract. Add the cooled chocolate mixture and stir in well. Add the canola oil and combine. Then add the flour and salt, mix in with a rubber spatula. Pour into a greased 8 x 8 -inch baking pan. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes, or until a toothpick when inserted comes out clean. Let cool completely on a baking rack.
- Once cool, cut the brownies into large squares. Then slice them in half. Add your favorite ice cream flavor and roll in edible star sprinkles. Place on a small sheet pan lined with parchment paper and place in the freezer for at least one hour, so the ice cream can set or serve immediately.
