Warm up on a chilly fall day with a mug of pear cider, made with mulling cider spices for a soothing and sweet flavor.
- In a large pot, add both types of pears and cover with water. Bring to a boil and then let simmer on the stove for about an hour, covered. Remove from the heat and mash with a potato masher.
- Press through a food mill. Then press through a strainer. Discard the pulp or make into pear sauce.
- Heat the pear cider over medium to low heat, add the mulling spices and stir with a whisk or wooden spoon. Simmer for 15-20 minutes. Serve in heat proof mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick, if desired.
