This hearty classic sandwich filled with shaved steak, American cheese, peppers and onions will fill up any hungry tailgaters on game day.
- In a large cast iron skillet, over medium heat melt the butter and oil. Once it is hot, add the slices of onions and peppers. Cook over medium heat for 10-12 minutes, until soft.
- Turn the heat up slightly, and add the shaved steak to the peppers and onions. Brown the steak, using tongs to turn it. Season with salt, pepper and steak sauce.
- Slice each roll, almost, but not completely through. Spread a layer of mayonnaise on each roll. Layer each roll with steak, peppers and onions and 2 slices of cheese.
- Place on a parchment lined half sheet pan and place under the broiler, on high for 2-4 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned. Serve immediately.
