- Grease a 15x10 baking pan and place bread flat. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, maple syrup, sugar, orange zest and pinch of salt. Pour half of mixture on bread; then turn and coat with the second half of the mixture. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. In another large mixing bowl, combine the cherries, orange juice and sugar. Cover as well and refrigerate overnight.
- Transfer soaked bread slices to another greased baking pan. Throw away any leftover egg mixture. Bake at 400° for 7-10 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the bread is cooking, in a small saucepan, combine cornstarch and water until smooth. Stir in the refrigerated cherry sauce. In a small saucepan, bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve over French toast; drizzle with yogurt if desired.
