Trim a little off of each cupcake to shape it like the top of an ice cream cone.
Place each trimmed cupcake in an ice cream cone.
Fill a piping bag with the buttercream frosting.
Pipe the frosting around each cupcake to cover it. (Go down low enough to cover the cone.)
Carefully smooth the frosting with a butter knife.
Add sprinkles and colored sugar.
