Green beans are a holiday meal staple in many households, but instead of a casserole, this recipe for Roasted Green Beans adds a lighter side dish to the dinner table and goes perfectly with some of the heartier items you may be serving. And it is finished with a buttery, crunchy topping that will quickly make this recipe feel like a tradition that you’ll want to make for years to come.

Select ingredients:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Toss the green beans with the olive oil, kosher salt, black pepper and lemon juice until evenly coated.
  2. Spread the green beans onto a rimmed baking sheet and roast in the oven for 15 minutes, or until tender and beginning to brown at the edges.
  3. While the green beans cook, melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the crackers and cook, stirring occasionally, until lightly toasted, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the lemon zest.
  4. Transfer the green beans to a serving dish and sprinkle generously with the toasted cracker crumbs. Serve immediately.

Recipe Tip: Feel free to substitute broccoli or asparagus for the green beans.
