This affordable dish makes spending less on a savory meal simple. Featuring low-cost ground beef, plus several ingredients you probably already have on-hand, it’s a crowd-pleasing way to feed your loved ones while sticking to your budget.

- Mix the ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, egg, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Divide into four equal, oval-shaped patties.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 5-8 minutes per side or until cooked to desired doneness. Transfer to a serving platter and tent with aluminum foil.
- Wipe the skillet clean from the Salisbury steak and melt the butter over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and cook for 4-5 minutes or until the mushrooms are browned. Add the garlic, flour, thyme, salt and pepper and cook for 2 minutes.
- Pour in the wine and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Pour in the heavy cream, mix to combine and cook for 2 minutes or until the sauce has thickened. Pour over the Salisbury steak.
Recipe Tip: Select a dry white wine. If you prefer not to use wine, substitute using chicken or beef broth.
