Nothing says “special dinner” quite like a perfectly cooked steak! This clever sheet pan technique takes all the guesswork out of the equation (and keeps dishes at a minimum!). Simply roast the potatoes, then broil New York strip steaks for a few minutes along with some asparagus. Everything is served together with an herb-flecked compound butter for a delicious meal!

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and adjust the oven rack to the top position. Mix the potatoes and 1 tablespoon of the oil together in a large bowl until coated. Season with salt and pepper. Arrange in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until tender. Transfer to a plate and cover with aluminum foil to keep warm.
  2. Meanwhile, combine the butter and Italian seasoning in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Preheat the oven to broil. Brush the steaks with the remaining oil and arrange on the rimmed baking sheet. Season with salt and pepper. Broil until golden-brown, about 5 minutes. Turn the steaks over and arrange asparagus in a single layer on the baking sheet. Return it to the oven and broil until they reach the desired internal temperature, about 4 to 6 minutes.
  4. Slice the steaks and serve with seasoned butter, roasted potatoes and asparagus.

Recipe Tip: Substitute pork chops or salmon filets for the steak.
