This is the simple and delicious version of our grandmother recipe of the FLAN, also know as custard. It has been passed down to generations, you may find other versions , but this easy and simple verion is the best! Try it!

Select ingredients:

  1. Pour caramel ingredients, sugar and water , in a pan over Medium heat until sugar dissolves to a golden caramel color, you can make your caramel directly into your bakeware, ( stove top glass container) or use a separate pan and pour the caramel once is ready into your baking pan. Have a pan ready with cold water to place your bakeware with caramel so it stops the heating process. Let the caramel cool off, it should be crunchy or hard if you touch it with a fork. Set it aside. Once is cool, pour the flan mixture and place inside the oven.
  2. Mix all the ingredients with a blender or hand mixer. Pour the mixture in the caramel coated pan or bakeware. Place your pan with flan mixture inside another pan filled with water, bake inside the oven at 350 degrees, for 1 hour, insert knife in flan , if knife comes out clean , it is ready. You can also use a double boiler to cook the flan, stove top. The double boiler /steam heat , makes a very soft and creamy flan.
