Not at all similar to baked beans or barbecue, this is a hearty dish that will warm you up. Excellent as a side dish for streak or grilled chicken, it's also tasty as a cold picnic dish. Easy and fast to fix, this makes a full meal if served with a small salad and cornbread.

Select ingredients:

  1. Combine the beef and pork in a heavy skillet; brown over medium heat using a metal spatula to chop the meat finely. Add cilantro and tomato and toss over low heat for another 2-3 minutes. Set aside.
  2. Drain all three cans of beans, and rinse the black beans twice. In a 3-quart saucepan over medium heat combine pinto, white and black beans.
  3. Stir in the Blood Mary Mix (or juice), chili powder, cumin and hot sauce.
  4. Combine the meat and seasonings from the skillet with the bean mixture. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Simmer over low heat for 30 minutes; adjust seasoning as desired. Serve with a topping of grated cheese.
