These black bean burgers are a hearty and nutritious addition to Memorial Day cookouts and Bar-B-Ques. Chock full of black beans, sweet potato and flavor, theyâ re sure to fill you up and keep the whole family happy.
- Combine cooked sweet potato and beans and mash together with a potato masher or with your hands. It's OK to leave some of the beans whole. Then add the remaining ingredients and mix until well combined. The mixture will be sticky, but if it's too wet, add additional bread crumbs until the batter becomes more firm.
- Use your hands to form the mixture into ½ inch thick bun-sized patties and arrange on a grill over medium heat for 8-10 minutes (depending on your grill), flipping once halfway through.
- When the burgers are cooked in the middle, remove from the grill and top with your favorite burger additives and condiments. Serve hot and enjoy!
