Cranberry sauce is absolutely perfect with turkey. The flavors are just made for one another. Also try cranberry sauce with chicken or as a layer in your favorite sandwich. For variety, add your choice of chopped pecans, orange zest, grated fresh ginger, raisins, currants, or a dash of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, or allspice.
- Stir together all the ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 to 15 minutes or until the cranberries burst.
- Remove the pan from the heat. Cover and cool completely at room temperature. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
- Transfer to a covered container and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Or, the cranberry sauce can be frozen.
