Few dishes can beat a savory veal Bolognese. The perfect alternative to "spaghetti sauce" on a shelf, this recipe uses fresh ingredients, ground veal and beef. It's perfect over any pasta, but outstanding over a plate of cheese tortellini. Best of all, this sauce has no added sugar, which makes it healthier than anything you could buy in a glass jar. Add a sprig of fresh basil and grated Parmesan, and you'll be hard pressed to find a better Italian inspired sauce.
Ingredients
Directions
- Brown meat in large saucepan. Turn down burner to medium low heat. Add all remaining ingredients, with the exception of four basil leaves.
- Continue to stir sauce. As it thickens, taste and add salt as needed. If sauce is too thick, add 1 tablespoon of water as needed. Cook for approximately 15 minutes.
- Spoon sauce over pasta of choice. Top with remaining chopped basil leaves and shaved Parmesan and serve immediately.
