Do you have pizza lovers in your family? If so, this cheesy dip will be a new family favorite! Perfect to serve as an appetizer or as a fun take on the traditional pizza entrée, this Veggie Pizza Dip is served with toasted premade pizza crust on the side for dipping. So, don’t worry about having to make your own. To make the dip, you’ll need a few different cheeses, some diced vegetables, marinara sauce and spices. But, if you want to add meat to the dip to make it a little heartier, ground Italian sausage (browned over medium-high heat) or pepperoni are delicious additions.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Cut pizza crust into small wedges and spread on a rimmed baking sheet. Lightly coat with nonstick spray and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Set aside to cool.
- In a medium bowl, combine mozzarella, cheddar and remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese. Set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add green bell pepper, red bell pepper, onions and mushrooms. Sauté until vegetables begin to soften, about 7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Transfer cooked vegetables to a large bowl. Add cream cheese, oregano, chili flakes and all except 2/3 of a cup of the cheese mixture. Mix until combined. Spread mixture evenly into a baking dish. Top with dollops of marinara sauce and sprinkle with remaining cheese.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until bubbling and lightly browned on top. Garnish with fresh basil and serve with toasted pizza crust wedges.
*Tip: Pizza is all about the toppings. Feel free to substitute any of your favorites!
